Dear Hanspeter, Thanks so much for the rapid and helpful response. I'm sorry if the question was a foolish one (I figured that the 5100/586/588 packages would be outdated for OS X 10.8, which ships with Perl 5.12, but I didn't see any other options available in the package database or in the output of 'fink list').
I tried running 'fink list bioperl-pm', but it couldn't find any packages that matched that string: "localhost:~ nmcnulty$ fink list bioperl-pm Scanning package description files.......... Information about 6302 packages read in 1 seconds." My first thought was that perhaps BioPerl is defunct, or at least, has pulled its packages from fink. But, that seems like the kind of action that would warrant some kind of notice or update on their Wiki for sure...
