I removed and reinstalled Xcode & CLI (CLI is a pain to remove in 10.8), then
retried using fink-0.36.3.1. I'm getting the same make error.

New system info:

Also include the following system information:
Package manager version: 0.36.3.1
Distribution version: selfupdate-point (bootstrap), 10.8, x86_64
Trees: local/main stable/main
Xcode.app: 5.0.2
Xcode command-line tools: 5.0.1.0.1.1377666378
Max. Fink build jobs: 4

Any other ideas?
