fink- 0.28.1 was released on 3/11.  And 0.28.0 was released on 1/20 .

If we're talking about changes in the package manager, it might be  
worth trying to build the package with fink-0.27.11 instead, and also  
to try using Tiger (I can do neither right now since I'm in the middle  
of a buildfink job involving everything that was in the tracker as of  
yesterday evening).  If the latter fails and the former succeeds, that  
would tend to put suspicion on fink, whereas if it works on Tiger but  
not Leopard, the OS seems to be more culpable.

If we're talking changes in the Fink distribution, that's harder to  
understand, since none of the dependencies have been updated since  
before 2/11 .
