Well, what got it working for me now was:
replace NoSetCPPFLAGS in .info file with
SetCPPFLAGS: -I%p/include/pygtk-2.0
-I%p/lib/freetype219/include/freetype2
install proj_4.4.9
I've made the modified info files and .debs available for download at
<http://www.astro.physik.uni-goettingen.de/~derek/fink/>
if you can test them and find they work, maybe Jeff can upload the
changes.
