Mike, This is a known problem with Leopard: ordinary linking to libGL.dylib is broken, and a special hack must be used. We tried to fix as many fink packages as we could to handle this problem in advance of the Leopard release, and I think we got all the ones in the stable tree, but we didn't get all of the unstable ones.
