Point won't give you new packages in the absence of any new point
releases.  We haven't had a point release of the Fink distribution
since 2008, and that was for 10.5.

cvs and rsync updates should give the same result the same under
normal circumstances, apart from a lag in syncing cvs to rsync.

Normally we like to see the output of "fink -V | head -n3" or the system
information text from the error message to provide more detail, but in
this case we know that you have 10.6/x86_64.

It has to be, because you're on 10.6.  And it normally wouldn't have
mattered on packages with a binary installer option, in any case.

I don't reproduce your error.  Are you using the standard X11?
