The BJS's Firearm Violence, 1993-2011 report, it notes that 37.4% of crime guns come from "Friend or Family". However, there is no breakdown of these sources.
Other criminological literature (which I have lost) made note of some percentages of the types of "friends", many of who are druggies, gang members and such.
