I'd say ISQL should support *at least* those versions that the project officially maintains. Currently, it means v2.1 and v2.5. So, neither your option represents my vote. On the other side, we had a discussion here regarding non-existent fields handling (map non-existent to NULL) and the "silent agreement" was to support those versions that provide such a mapping. Adriano had mentioned that v2.1.2 and later versions can handle that. I can live with the fact that only recent v2.1 sub-releases are supported by ISQL. That said, I'm against dropping support for the v2.1 line as a whole.
