Use the space bar, page up/page down or the up/down arrows to scroll
through the completion list. Making tab also scroll the list might
make sense, I'll consider adding it.

As to expanding globs, that is very much on purpose. In fish, the tab
completions will not change what you've written, it will show you
possible _completions_ of what you've written. Personally, I find the
zsh behaviour unintuitive and rarely as useful. It's much more common
for me to wish to complete a filename containing a wildcard than it is
to wish to edit the list of matches.

I am not a big fan of implementing a millions customization options,
so the number of options are unlikely to explode, though I will
consider well motivated suggestions, especially if they are provided
together with a patch. A right-side prompt is on the todo-list, but
not at the top. As to tab expantion, suggestions are welcome, though
the behaviour on globs is unlikely to change.
