I was disappointed that the Flex series of radios
did not follow the SDR-1000 in having a direct
output for band data signals. My SDR-1000 is
directly connected to a Quadra and can bandswitch
it independently of DDutil, etc. My 5000a
requires a parallel port and DDutil to do the same.
It appears that Flexradio had intended to make an
interface unit for the 5000a/3000 that would have
plugged in to the flexport (name?) and allowed
them to do this, but it must have fallen through the cracks.

interface of the KPA500 directly from the 5000.
I would bet that Utilizing PowerSDR and DDUtil
software and the KPA500 XCVR serial port you can accomplish auto band changing.
