Hi Kermit
I have recently acquired a Flex 3000 and run it on an HP Probook 6550B
laptop using the built in firewire port and 8 GB RAM. So far it seems to be
working work fine.
The only difficulty I have encountered is when running CW skimmer and the
Flex 3000 on the same laptop. With this configuration there is evidence of
distortion/noise in the audio output from CW Skimmer. I need to do some
further diagnosis to try and identify what is causing the CW Skimmer noise
problem.

Edit:
I am using a flex 3000.
Kermit, I am currently using an HP Probook fairly current model, win 7 8g
memory with pc express slot. In that slot I
have a firewire card with the TI chipset. I can't tell you the brand as I
don't remember.
This combination works just as well as the home computer, and the CW latency
is almost non-existant.
