The Flex 3000 hardware is capable of 192 KB sample rate, and the KE9NS software offers that option in the selection from revision OS onward added to 2.7.2 software. I run my Flex 3000 at 192KB, and for the most part it works fine. The other part of this is the Firewire cable, the Firewire port, and the computer. I have heard that even with the Flex 5000, there are some situations where 192 is problematic, and 96 is more stable. I don't understand all the hurtles for a Firewire port to work, but perhaps look at the CPU utilization. If your CPU is running over 20% at 96 Kb sample rate, then perhaps it's best to just leave that setting alone. With my AMD FX-8350 4G 8 Core processor, power SDR runs at 2-4% CPU load.
In fairness to Flex though, those that "brick" a Flex using 3rd party software should not try to get free technical support from Flex to resolve the issue. You cannot set this from PowerSDR, so you must be using the Firewire control panel which is not recommended.
