I've sent a patch to Curtis which fixes a possible core dump when /sim/systems/electrical/path has not been defined in the aircraft-set.xml file.
Which aircraft are you trying to load when this happens?
I have tried a number of different aircraft including the default, the a4, c172p-3d, c172-3d-yasim, and the dc3.
