I recently added preliminary support for big-endian machines and the patch for this is pending for Plib. You could add this patch to plib yourself to get past the error:

But one question is this patch for the stable plib version or for the cvs/unstable version?
It *is* for the CVS version, but I think it can be applied to the latest stable version also.
