Help with documentation is very welcome.

Martin Spott (who doesn't read the list) and myself are the active committers
for
The FlightGear Manual. This is the main end-user documentation and is
supposed to be definitive. However the pace of FG development is such that
we have difficulty keeping up (which is a nice problem to have!).

The manual source is in Latex, and is generated as PDF or HTML. There are
CVS instructions on the main FG website on how to get the source.

Latex is pretty easy to understand, and quite convenient for writing docs.

Updates can be sent to myself as diffs against the Latex source. If you
are unable to generate the PDF from Latex, I'm also happy to receive
corrections against the current PDF in the docs directory, though there
is a risk that this is out of date.

If you've like to write some additional documentation, you can either write it
as
Latex (prefered), or alternatively write it on the wiki, from where it can be
proof-read and eventually added to the Manual. This is a bit slower, but has
worked successfully in the past.

I should note that the Manual is now quite large (>10MB in PDF form), and if it
continues to grow, we may need to look at splitting it up into different
sections
in the future. For this reason, if you are thinking of writing another 50
pages, I'd
suggest discussing it first on-list.

Regards,

-Stuart
