If you look up Al(l)a(e)n, as carved thrice upon a thyme in the ancient
dialects of Ewechanceryoo, the ancient garlicke nayme of Alan, it is
original form, you will note (and perhaps raise an eyebrow, indeed for I am
sure that you will secretly clench a fist in your pocket) the inclusion of
the mystical 'silent Q'.  Later, with the wider dissemination of
Ewechanceryoo and it's dilution with Robinsonsbahrleywasser and other
dialects, and due to the lack of an appropriate U the Q was made not only
silent but also invisible.  It is this silent invisilble Q which Allan and I
are about to discuss.
