[folkschool-list] Word 2000 "flashing" problem

Over the past months,  several Helpnet folks have reported a strange 
problem with Word 2000, which has started to happen occasionally on my own 
laptop.  Basically, dialog boxes that are supposed to pop up when you 
select an action are being hidden.  When you select  "Print" (or sometimes 
"Save" or "Save As"), the task bar box that says Word starts flashing, but 
the Print or Save dialog box doesn't appear.  You have to minimize the main 
window.  Then if you click on the flashing Word task bar box the Print 
dialog will pop up and you can print.

I've spent a fair amount of time trying to research this, including combing 
through Microsoft's Knowledge Base, and looking for help in the Woody's 
Office Lounge Word forum.  My own post several months ago didn't produce 
any answers, nor has a more recent message about the same problem.  Several 
of the folks responding to this latest message are real Office experts.  If

It appears what we're dealing with is a bug in Word, which has not yet been 
documented, acknowledged or fixed by Microsoft.  I will keep looking for 
information about it.  In the meantime, if you computer starts doing this, 
don't worry, it's probably not a big problem with your system, but there 
doesn't seem to be a way to fix it as yet.
