I had actually considered something like this, but it still means that o ne has to remember to configure it on each machine where Fossil is installed prior to cloning via SSH. Another thought was to set the default-user setting, but then I wondered if the default-user setting should actually override a user provided in the URL? Or vice versa? At any rate, I haven't had any great ideas for addressing this issue, so it has just remained as is. Did you mention that -A does not set the default user? Perhaps it should, and that would at least eliminate one step.
