Hi list
i upgraded an AIM*AT 2.5 on a 70 station to AIM*AT 3.0 and then to 3.0.2

In docs there are no messages about this kind of upgrade but i had a
great number of problems.
After installation i checked instance status and i found that wasn't
running with error while executing ipchisti and fetchdog process. No
data recorded
I try to reinstall the package with same results...
I try to check API status ( stopping an restarting ) and obtained the
same error.
At the end i decided (an hard decision) to remove the istance an rebuild
a new one but i obtained the same problems.... with the addition of
histmain.exe crash (Dr Watson Message ---> Exeption : access violation
0xc0000005 Address : 0x78002e40)
At this point, with old data unreadable for the instance removal, i
decided to reinstall the package after removing /opt/aim directory
After this new installation i checked the status of the package with no
istance and all worked fine.
I create a new istance with a different name (hist02 inspite of hist01)
and reload all rpts and all worked fine.
After a reboot of the station i checked again the status and i found
that hist02 (new istance) was running well but the log reported also
messages about the old istance hist01 ( ipchisti and fetchdog process
problems ).
Another problem is no alarm history. Alarm history looked for old hist01
so i commited the station with the new hist02
After first boot all seemed to run well but after booting again the
station the problem came back. This time alarm history looks for hist02
but a message advise that the system is unable to read hist02.

At this point i ended my work. A very simple upgrade (as a foxboro guy
told me) became hell.
Now the station is collecting correctly but is not possible to read old
data and no alarm history is available.
I'm sorry for the long mail but i shoul describe all steps

Is it "only" an unusual and not reproducible problem ?
Is it possible to rebuild the old configuration for read again the old
data ?
Why the removed istance continue to exists somewhere ?

I have million questions but i used much of your time ...(too much)

Thanks in advance
