We burned a couple, and they seemed to help. I doubt they could replace a
chimneysweep, but as preventative maintenance, they're probably a good idea.
BTW you can save a small fortune buying a tub of "Safe-T-Flue Chimney
Cleaner" (made by Worcester Brush, a local company) from Monnick Supply -- a
one pound tub should last a whole season and costs less than one log!
