Welcome, David. FrameMaker 8 pre-dates Windows 7 by quite a bit, and I'm not surprised that it's not compatible. But there is hope. After I was forcibly migrated to Win 7, FM 7.2 crashed hard whenever I drag-selected text. Now I'm more or less successfully running it by using the compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2 ("more or less" because this makes disk operations -- opening and saving files -- very slow). Other compatibility settings might work better for FM 8. A fair amount of experimenting may be required. To get started, go to your FM home folder, right-click FrameMaker.exe, and select Troubleshoot compatibility. You might also want to search the Adobe FM forums and FrameUsers.com for "Windows 7 compatibility" or variations of that to see if there are specific suggestions/hints. Richard G.
