Hi Peter and Tom

Why don’t you just use FrameMaker>File>Package? This creates a zip file that
you can unpack to a new destination and it adjusts the links automatically? It
also gives you a report listing which files are included and which files are
missing.

I use it to create archive backups and to clean up my book directories to
remove superfluous files/graphics which creep in while I’m working. I also use
it to duplicate projects for new books based on old ones.

One word of caution, though, if you unpack your book to a different directory.
if you have imported TOC, LOF, LOT, etc, you should probably delete the
imported files, regenerated them, then re-import them. Otherwise FM complains.
This can be a bit of a hassle if you have a big book with generated files at
the start of each chapter. Fortunately, a colleague wrote me a script to
re/generate these files across each chapter in the book, which makes life much
easier. It’s not my script, so I can’t share it but I’m sure that there are
folk on this forum who could write one.

BTW I’m using FM16.

I swear by Rick Quattro's ArchiveES and Convert Documents add-ons. ArchiveES
archives the complete book, including graphics and text insets, and maintains
the integrity of all links and cross-references in another location. We then
run the Convert Documents on the archive to add mif conversions of all of the
FM files to the archive, which makes it easier for us to work across platforms
with other users, especially translation agencies.

One of the first FM lifesavers I heard about in the early days was Bruce
Foster's Archive utility. It copied FM document folders to specified locations
and adjusted reference links.

Perhaps someone on the list knows if it still works with recent Windows and FM
releases, where to find it, etc.
