Hi There,

Are we now required to update Python to version 3.8 to use the new version
of setuptools?

The *default* version (DEFAULT_VERSIONS [1]) of Python was switched from 3.7 to 3.8 in:

https://cgit.freebsd.org/ports/commit/?id=6cd3db2d03cc544c5893e41dbbacd2000fcbd35a

/usr/ports/UPDATING entry 20210426 [2] contains the instructions for people for either updating from 3.7 to 3.8, or to remain on 3.7, fulfilling the purpose of DEFAULT_VERSIONS, user choice among multiple available version.

[2] https://cgit.freebsd.org/ports/commit/?id=210ee04dd3c3f2e82cd3130e412866a182066859

I did not see anything in UPDATING regarding this.

Thanks,
Ken
