Dietmar,

This is unfortunately a known issue which is not fixed yet.
libapache2-mod-php7.2 keeps the earlier version 7.0 enabled after
installation. The system ends up with both mod-php versions enabled.

The fix that worked for me is to disable and remove
libapache2-mod-php7.0 and then restart the apache2 server.
