Hi, From the problem description this sounds like a server side issue. As soon as you see the session window (and the windows mouse cursor) the rdp session is running.
This is confirmed by the comment from Jonathan below, who observed this with mstsc as well (I assume 'RDP on windows' is the windows mstsc client) So, the client reboot is not necessary, just retrying the connection later should work as well.
