For those that are having problems with the tool window: I'm not sure what exactly the problem is, as this seems like something that is difficult to understand until you've seen it. But if it seems to be a positioning problem, press the Home key while the graphics window is selected and your mouse is within its bounds. It should move the tool window to its proper place, below the graphics window.
