Yep. What have I done? The definition

\NewDocumentCommand{\spadfunFrom}{v v}{\spadfun`#1`}

looks perhaps wrong in connection to the definition of \spadfun.
I must study that in more detail.

Why, however, that problem is only visible inside the description environment, sounds strange to me. It works inside enumerate or itemize.
It is also not connected to the special backquote character.
Why the description environment influences the behaviour is still a bit unclear to me.

Anyway, with using pdflatex these definitions should anyway change in order to produce hyperlinks.
