I wasn't saying you were wrong. I can easily see New Orleans being reduced to such a sorry state. I was just saying that the strategy makes little sense from the p.o.v. of the tourist industry, and those concerned with preservation of an historical city and national icon. Oil imports render a far bigger return when reviewing what will hold greater sway. Perhaps it will be a blend of both, but it seems clear that for now officials have scant intention to restore, and every opportunity to pocket fortunes.
