It's possible that Disklight may be the problem, too. On my Pismo under 
9.x, I had problems which went away when I removed Disklight. 

Actually, more than one type of problems have been connected with 
Norton/Symnatec programs, so I minimize how many of theirs I have on my 
systems. YMMV.
