Summary: No sound/audio feedback for GUI interface actions/events

Initial Comment:
Most GTK/GNOME applications provide sound/audio
feedback for GUI interface actions/events, such as
selecting a menu item, or presssing a button. GAIM
does not :(

I know that feeling - I have a very minimalist sound set on
my Mac, and it's strange when things don't make the expected
sound (mostly, menus) - you wonder whether it actually did
anything. it's definitely wise to be consistent wherever
possible :)

Well, GNOME lets you configure whatever sounds you want, if
any. I don't find the simple 'click' sound I have for a
button press annoying. It's actually more distracting when
it doesn't happen and you expect it to - I imagine in the
same way you would be distracted if a button's 3D shading
didn't invert when it was clicked on. I would have thought
this audio feedback would be an internal GTK function, and
not a responsibility of the application programmer, but I
guess not. Either way, it would be nice if GAIM behavior
was consistent with the rest of the desktop.
