Hi Mark,

Any good online place, I like www.beanfarm.com for my gecko supplies.

Julie,

Thanks so much for the help!!  Where is a good place to get the carpet? And is there someplace to read about the best use of the carpet.  If you could not guess, I am a n00b.

Thanks again,

Mark

No, not a good substrate. If you must use a "naturalistic" substrate stick with fine grade sand. The courser the grade the more potential problems with ingestion and sand impaction. Leopards can impact on sand before you know it so be extra observant about their feces and eating habits if you use sand. If they don't feel good they tend to ingest the substrate. My favorite substrate is cage carpet like the "Repticage carpet" - comes in cool colors. For my breeders I use Costco shop towels. :)

I am looking for a workable substrate for my leopard gecko.  The local pet store is touting crushed walnut shells.  They are the consistency of course sand.  Is this something that I can safely use?  Comments?

Thanks in advance!

Mark
