Hey all of you Cyrtodactylus fans, Twelve new species were described last year, all from South East Asia, there is now a total of 83 species (and 10 subspecies), Cyrtodactylus is almost catching up to Sphaerodactylus for most species in a genus. The new species are; Cyrtodactylus brevidactylus, C. slowinskii (named after Dr. Slowinskii who died last year from a krait bite), C. annandalei (named after Dr. Annandale a herpetologist from India in the 1800's), C. ayeyarwadyensis (named after the Ayeyarwady river in Myanmar where it was discovered), C. gansi (named after Dr. Carl Gans), C. wakeorum (named after the Wake's; salamander herpetologists), C. russelli (named after Dr. Anthony Russell, the renowned "Gecko-ologist", C. chrysopylos, C. aequalis, C. tigroides, C. chanhomeae and one other species that I don't know the name of (but will soon). Supposedly every isolated hill range in Burma (Myanmar) and Thailand has it's own species. Very nice!
