The start page of glpeda.org currently says: /-------------- To get up and running as fast as possible, new users should install the gEDA Binary Suite, which can be obtained from the download page. \--------------
IMHO, an install via the local distribution is a lot faster and less error prone. Package managers will have made sure, there are no unmatched dependency. They may even have ironed out some glitches to make geda fit in the respective default file system. I propose to change the sentence to /--------- (...), new users should check the package management of their distribution. Linux distributions known to offer geda and pcb are Debian, Ubuntu and OpenSuSE ((add more distros here)). Users of other distributions may still be able to install one of the binaries available at the download page. \----------- ---<)kaimartin(>--- -- Kai-Martin Knaak Öffentlicher PGP-Schlüssel: http://pgp.mit.edu:11371/pks/lookup?op=get&search=0x6C0B9F53 _______________________________________________ geda-user mailing list geda-user@moria.seul.org http://www.seul.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/geda-user
