That's right. When I send a message with a new subject to the list, GMail saves the message to a new thread that it starts in my Sent-Mail folder with that subject line. I do not get an email from the list sending me my own message. Then, if someone replies to my post, GMail adds the message to the thread started in the Sent-Mail folder and migrates it to the Inbox. It's kind of weird. Avoid being redundant but doesn't confirm that the list got your message either.
