If something is trying to open /dev/dsp, then it is using the (obsolete) OSS API. You need to enable OSS emulation in the kernel drivers. Note that, AFAIK, there is no mixing possible with the OSS API. Your best bet is to tell the apps to use ALSA, or use one of the dsp "wrapper" libraries that are available.
