[gentoo-user] WLAN speed either 800KB or 3MB

Downloads over my 802.1g WLAN seem to always be at either of these two
speeds. Billon ADSL+WLAN router one end, Intel 5100 on the laptop. Any
ideas on how i stop it falling back to the slower speed?
