The 'simplest' way to control xterm fonts is to edit your ~/.Xresources file to specify the font, or font size, or font encoding, that you want xterm (or terms based on xterm, like aterm or mrxvt) to use, although gnome-terminal and konsole can edit such settings directly in the GUI.
