Evening all,
I've just gone through the process of upgrading to KDE Plasma, that's
V5 now isn't it. I think everything went correctly, although it's still
got baloo, now to get rid of that...

Anyway, I have vlc as my audio/video player and after the upgrade
clicking on a video will give me video but no audio. Clicking on an
audio file will give me nothing. The progress bar moves across, but no
volume. Using JuK, which I also have installed, gives me sound when a
music track is played.

Going into vlc then Tools -> Preferences and selecting "Reset
Preferences", accepting the reset warning dialogue, then closing vlc,
then restarting it with the same music track WILL give me sound. As I've
reset the preference, vlc will pop up the "Privacy and Network Access
Policy" dialogue asking if it can use the network for metadata. I
unselect this, then hit "Continue" and in turn the sound is killed, half
way through a track. Closing down and restarting does not give me back
sound. Redoing the reset preferences dialogue button does.

Has anyone come across this problem and if so, a remedy by any chance?
It's off to the vlc bug tracker now to see if it's a known problem....

        Regards,
                Andrew
