Thank you all for your responses. gst-plugins-ffmpeg is not in world:

# grep gst-plugins-ffmpeg /var/lib/portage/world
#

I have media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta-0.10-r11 already installed.

So, I uninstalled media-plugins/gst-plugins-ffmpeg, then @preserved-rebuild
dragged this in:

# emerge @preserved-rebuild -a

These are the packages that would be merged, in order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild R ] media-libs/libquicktime-1.2.4-r1
[ebuild R ] media-video/transcode-1.1.7-r3
[ebuild R ] kde-frameworks/kfilemetadata-4.14.3 [4.14.3]

and all seems to be OK so far, but if I come across any major malfunction I
will install media-plugins/gst-plugins-libav as pointed out in the enotice and
also mentioned by Corbin.
