There is the `--alert, -A` option for sending a terminal bell when
emerge needs some interaction.

I presume that you are looking at something on a per-ebuild basis, and
not something as simple as :
`emerge -avuDN @world &&
        aplay success.flac ||
        aplay fail.flac`

I'm curious to see what you have come up with.
