In order to get a proper FQDN, you need to set up three files: /etc/hosts, /etc/conf.d/hostanme, /etc/conf.d/domainname. I also have the same problems as you in past, and one day I found that the most tricky thing was that you must give a seperate line for your FQDN name in /etc/hosts!
