I'm running kernel 2.6.16 (Gentoo, of course) on an Abit AN8 Ultra with an Athlon 64 4400+ X2.
I get kernel panics at an average frequency of once per day, but sometimes more to the point of system unusability. I captured a few in console mode; they were all null pointer dereferences in spin_lock_irqsave; two at +23, the other at +42 (as I recall). I've updated my BIOS to the latest version. I've removed all sorts of hardware to no effect (ask for details if you want them). I've gone through my kernel configuration and can't see anything obvious that would pertain to IRQ numbers, or to spinlocks. Let me know if there's anything else I should try.
