[gentoo-user] ETH0 Startup Problem

I just did a fresh install on a PC and at startup I get this:

*Starting up eth0
*   Bringing up eth0
*      dhcp
*         eth0 does not exist
*ERROR: Problem starting needed services.
*             "netmount" was not started.

Anyone have any ideas.  The eth0 worked on the live CD and when i do LSPCI i can see that it see the device.
