At the time I assumed it was a problem with the "whole thing" since I had problems with 2006.0 as well. I went back to install from a 2005.0 CD (which is what I use to have on this computer and it worked fine) then upgraded all my packages and the problem was there again. I have KDE installed, but seldom actually use KDE, I just like many of their applications. Very odd stuff.....
