Just got CUPS working from gentoo to kubuntu. The misunderstood part for me was the need to set up cupsd.conf for sharing even though I was only using a remote printer specified with ServerName in client.conf. But now the KDE Printer Configuration dialog appears to be hitting https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=204558 So I'm going to conclude that KDE 4.4.1 is not ready for printer configuration and just stick with CUPS. Sad. Thanks everyone! Roy
