Hi,

Nokia launched today the alpha of the Maemo 5 (Fremantle) SDK:
http://maemo.org/news/announcements/maemo_5_alpha_sdk_released/

>From the release announcement:
   * Location API: methods to build location-aware applications.
   * City Information: methods to obtain information about cities,
including city name, country name, and country code.

Now, according to https://bugs.maemo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2037#c9 Maemo
will not ship GeoClue by default, but will instead use Nokia's
proprietary location service:
"In fact Nokia as a whole is making big investments in own
location technologies and services covering the whole stack. In this
context GeoClue has little to no chances to be officially supported,
at least at this point."

However, as GeoClue is available also outside the Maemo platform, I'd
imagine it is the positioning framework developers will want to use.

So, for Maemo, how about making GeoClue backends that use Nokia's
location service?
