So the OSGeo board is proposing 2k as a starting point for each project ... can I can confirm this is good for GeoTools?
As for GeoTools plans: - The 2k above should be fine to respond to anything that comes up during the year, I assume we will have a member attending the AGM already who can speak on our behalf. - Last year with Java 11 was our really big / disruptive plan :) - We could consider removing org.opengis packages (either quickly to org.geotools.api, or on a package by package basis to the appropriate module) - The idea has also come up (with restriction Apache projects have in using LGPL) to relicense the library. I think the vast majority of the code base is covered under our code contribution agreement, and could just be relicensed. There will be a subset of LGPL code included from other projects to consider ... - we could do our best to run the geotools workshops at regional events? If there is any interest in the above idea, or any ideas to add to the mix, I am happy to ask for more then the 2k proposed by the board. -- Jody Garnett On Mon, 7 Jan 2019 at 13:07, Jody Garnett <jody.garn...@gmail.com> wrote: > We made some use of our budget in 2018 > <https://github.com/geotools/geotools/wiki/GeoTools-Budget-Request-2018>, > any priorities for this upcoming year? > -- > Jody Garnett > > Dear OSGeo project members, >> Over the previous years, OSGeo has been proud to support a growing >> number of project events, such as code sprints, developer meetings, and >> user conferences. >> OSGeo is reaching out to all committees, including project steering >> committees, to help plan our budget for 2019. >> This year, the board is discussing about assigning a starting budget of >> 2000$ to all graduated projects who have reported to the board the last >> 12 months (see https://git.osgeo.org/gitea/osgeo/todo/issues/11). >> For projects with more of a plan (to pursue a specific goal) projects >> are welcome to send a more detailed request for approval (e.g. >> https://wiki.osgeo.org/wiki/GvSIG_Budget_2019) >> A good idea is to focus on OSGeo participation, for example attending >> the AGM or OSGeo code sprint.
