Public broadcasters in other countries already have fairly extensive on-demand access to their back catalogue. The SBS in Australia, for example, has an on-demand website/app along the lines of iPlayer, and most programs seem to be available regardless of how long ago they were broadcast. Nor does this availability appear to affect the success of commercial streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime.
