Joshua, Although I don't have any experience with FreeIPA, it seems to support LDAP. This page on the wiki: http://gitorious.org/gitorious/pages/LdapIntegration has some information about how to set this up. What you'll basically need is to copy config/authentication.sample.yml to config/authentication.yml and enter the details for your LDAP server and you should be good to go.
