Zitat von Amar Tumballi <a...@gluster.com>:

Hi Amar,

thanks for clearing that up.
Could it be possible to get it on the webpage as well ?

http://gluster.com/community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.1:_Using_CIFS_with_Gluster

To a "newbie" it sounds like that CIFS is build in (native) same as NFS.

Thanks and Regards
Heiko

Hi Heiko,

GlusterFS doesn't support native CIFS protocol (like NFS), instead what we
say is, you can export the glusterfs mount point as the samba export, and
then mount it using CIFS protocol.

Amar

Hello,

i'am testing glusterfs 3.1.2.

AFAIK CIFS and NFS is incorporated in the glusterd.
But i could only get the NFS mount working.

Running an "smbclient -L //glusterfs_server/..." will only produce
"Connection to cfstester failed (Error NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED)".
So it looks like that there is no SMB/CIFS port to connect to.

The docs are not very specific about how to use the CIFS interface.

What has to be done from the CLI to get the CIFS protocol up and running ?
Is there anything special inside the vol configs to take care of ?

Thanks and Regards
Heiko
